He felt dead. He was still at his desk, still in his office, still surrounded by his subordinates, but he was gone. Riza looked back at him, noticing the lack of color, or really, of everything from her superior. Roy swallowed and asked thinly "can you please repeat that?" into the phone against his ear. The emotionless soldier replied "of course sir! Lieutenant Maes Hughes is dead. He was found shot to death by a phone booth." Roy shook with each word. He thanked the man for the report and then hung up the phone. The room felt heavy and dismal.
